Two weeks have passed since Taro has suddenly left us. Your thoughts and support has been very important to help our family cope with this difficult moment.

After careful discussion, we have decided to refund all donations, and to allow you to provide support to other causes.

  • If you have donated via Paypal: you will automatically receive a refund on your card in a few days.
  • If you have donated via wire transfer: we will have to send a new wire transfer to your account. Please fill in the request form on one of these pages:
    English
    Italiano
    Français

Many of the donors have suggested other important causes where your generous help would be precious.
We have provided the list below. You can decide to provide your support to any cause that is close to your heart.
Our lesson is that every little help counts.

Finally, we wish to leave you with a visual picture of what you have done to allow Taro to have a chance:

Donation list

  • There are many other families in Japan fighting to save their loved ones, and raising funds to receive transplants in the US. You can find a long list here (in Japanese).

  • Vanessa Capato is a 2 years old girl from Ceva (CN), Italy, with throat cancer. The family had to quit their jobs to allow her to receive care in the Gaslini hospital in Genoa, Italy, and needs financial support. Here is the document which was sent in the beginning of January 2010 (in Italian).

  • All of the Salesian mission schools in Haiti have been destroyed, and 500 of the students have been killed in the January earthquake. You can help rebuild the infrastructure and heal the survivors.

  • Terre des Hommes, is a Swiss based organisation working to help children in emergency situation around the world. They are currently raising funds to support Haiti.

Taro is now in heaven.

My only little brother has left. He fought until the end.

He wanted to survive this illness, he still wanted to do many things and in particular he wanted to recover and do a world tour to meet and thank all the people who wanted to save him.

I was at his side when he passed. Today I attended his cremation. As per tradition, I picked up his bones together with my mother, my father and my husband. I never experienced anything tougher than the past few days.

But all he wanted was our happiness. I will never forget this. I am going to take care of my parents as I promised him, I am going to live and do many things and Taro will always be in my heart.

Thank you to all our friends. Thank you for trying to save him with us.

Mamiko

I was very moved to hear that Taro is not living anymore. I was so confident that he would survive with the little help of each of us, not mentioning the love of his family. My thoughts are with Taro and its family.

We are so sad to hear of Taro's passing. All of us here in California were hoping, praying that everything would work out and that he would be here in the US soon getting a transplant. We send our love to you over the oceans, over the kilometres, and we grieve with you for a young life ended altogether too soon.
